Slovenia Tour
Slovenia

Small in size, but large in talent, is how Slovenia could be qualified. Julian Alps and eastern Slovenia have roads and scenery from your motorcycle wish list. Enjoy winding through rolling back country hills that make riding exciting and a real adventure, taste delicious food and find out all about the friendliness of local people.

Rich in resources, naturally good-looking and persistently peaceful, Slovenia still remains a wonderful antidote to much of Europe's crowds and high prices. Friendly, mostly English-speaking Slovenians, beautiful sights everywhere, little traffic and stunning scenery help to make this an unforgettable week.

Day
1

Arrive in Ljubljana , ride to Kamniska Bistrica and meet for welcome dinner.

Day
2

After leaving Ljubljana we will do some nice introductory riding in the Alps and cross into Austria for a while. Riding glacial Logarska valley back in Slovenia is definitely the highlight of the day before arriving to our small hotel in Jeruzalem, surrounded by cenic vineyards. Jeruzalem was named by the Crusades when the beauty of the hilly landscape and its wines enthralled them on their way to the Holy Land.

Day
3 - 4

On the following day, we travel through numerous vineyards of remote eastern Slovenia before arriving to Sezana from where you can visit Predjama Castle. Situated in the gaping mouth of a cavern halfway up a 130-meter cliff, this medieval castle has one of the most dramatic settings anywhere and was once home of Erazem Lueger, the Slovenian equivalent of Robin Hood. Next we explore Skocjan caves, which with their 100-meter deep underground canyon and many vast chambers have no comparison in the world and are included in Unesco's World Heritage Sites list.

Day
5 - 6

Visiting famous Lipizzaner stud farm on the way, we ride the valley of Soca River, one of the most beautiful Alpine rivers in Europe, famous for its deep, almost unreal, turquoise color. We end today's ride in Bovec, the gateway to Julian Alps and Triglav National Park. From here go whitewater rafting, hiking in the Alps, relax by the Soca River or visit Venice - it's just two-hour ride.

Day
7

Snaking up and down 50 switchbacks will get us over beautiful Vrsic pass from where we continue to Bohinj through lush green forests and meadows. Reflected in the still waters of the gorgeous Bohinj Lake are the imposing peaks of the Julian Alps, which flank the peaceful villages and conjure up some truly fantastic views.

Day
8

On our final riding day we explore Bled, indisputably one of Europe's most beautiful lakes and mountain resorts. With its emerald-green water, picturepostcard church on an islet, medieval castle clinging to a rocky cliff more than 100m above the lake and some of the highest peaks of the Julian Alps as backdrops, Bled is Slovenia's most popular resort. Continuing through unpopulated, hilly countryside we again reach Ljubljana .

Day
9

Stroll through the narrow streets of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, before heading out to the airport.

On the way to Jezersko Pass

Lake Bled with church on an islet
50 twists and turns on Vrsic Pass
Coastal town of Piran makes a nice afternoon trip
130 kmh in Soca valley
Podsreda castle
Jerusalem vineyards in NE Slovenia
Whitewater rafting on Soca river
